Issaquah, WA, August 27, 2018 – League of Conservation Voters Action Fund today announced its endorsement of Dr. Kim Schrier in Washington’s 8th Congressional District. LCV Action Fund is the first major environmental group to endorse in the race, and today’s endorsement signals to voters that Dr. Schrier is the best candidate to fight for clean air and clean water in Congress.
“As a pediatrician, Kim Schrier knows firsthand how essential clean air and water are to the health of our kids and our communities,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to endorse her campaign because we need more leaders like her in Washington who will prioritize public health over polluter profits.”
Dr. Schrier has made protecting the environment and preserving our public lands key issues in her race to represent Washington’s 8th District. The need to immediately address climate change has become particularly salient in recent weeks as wildfire smoke covers most of the 8th District.
“Combating climate change is the greatest issue of our time,” said Dr. Kim Schrier. “In Congress I will stand with LCV to protect our environment and create a better world for my patients and children like them across the country. This includes ensuring they have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and full access to our treasured public lands.”
Shannon Murphy, President of Washington Conservation Voters, added, “Kim Schrier is committed to protecting access to Washington’s spectacular public lands. She will champion common sense action to address climate pollution and invest in communities that are dealing with its harmful effects. We look forward to working with her in Congress as we build a healthy and sustainable Washington for all.”
