About Kim

I am honored to represent Washington’s 8th Congressional District, and am running for re-election to represent the district which includes much of King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kittitas, and Chelan Counties, and portions of Douglas County.

I am a pediatrician, a wife, and a mom with deep roots in this community. Prior to being elected to Congress, I spent 17 years as a pediatrician listening to and helping solve problems with thousands of patients and their families across the 8th District, and I am bringing that same dedication and understanding to my work as your representative in Congress.

When I first ran for Congress, I promised to be an independent and effective voice for the people of Washington’s 8th Congressional District – someone eager to work with both parties to deliver real results that matter. And that’s exactly what I’ve done. I’m proud to have passed 22 bills into law, signed by both Democratic and Republican presidents.

Our country is in a pivotal moment right now that requires an effective voice and fighter for the people of Washington’s 8th Congressional District. While I’ll always work with anyone on policies that help you, I will also always stand up to anyone who makes life harder for you. The Trump Administration has demonstrated that they are only concerned with increasing the President’s own personal wealth and power along with that of his billionaire friends.

I never planned to run for office, but I knew that I had to join the fight because politicians in Washington were dismantling the healthcare system that, as a person with Type 1 Diabetes, had kept me & people like me alive. Now the fight has grown even bigger as this corrupt administration is not only kicking tens of millions of people off their health insurance, now they’re selling off pieces of the government to the highest corporate bidder. With your support, I will continue the fight to restore our government to one that puts you first.

Even now, when Congress seems hopelessly broken, we’ve notched out some wins – passing a law to streamline building more affordable housing, cutting red tape in the buildout of clean energy, seeking justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and other powerful men, and passing a farm bill that helps 8th District farmers. We’ve passed my Kids Online Safety Act through the House, and I’m hopeful we will get that over the finish line this year. It is long past time to protect our children from Big Tech abuses. With your support, we’ll hold this seat and change the balance of power in Congress. That is how we can restore checks and balances, slam the brakes on this president’s abuse of power, demand accountability, start the process of repairing our nation, and get back to the business of serving you.
